2007 Youth Group Mission Trip
"Renovate: Jesus Makes New"
The theme for the 2007 Youth Group’s Mission Trip was "Renovate: Jesus Makes New." Our youth were able to experience renovation through the people they served and within themselves. St. John’s youth traveled to Dulce, New Mexico where they helped to repair the homes on an Apache Indian reservation. Our youth experienced projects like:
· Interior and exterior painting
· Building or repairing porches and wheelchair ramps
· Building or repairing steps
· Weatherization and other home repairs
Each person from St. John’s was placed in a different crew for the daily repairs and then gathered at night as a group for devotion together. Crews consisted of people from across the United States and from many different Christian denominations so our youth were able to work, worship and learn from a variety of perspectives. Devotions were held in the morning before crews left for work, at lunch with crews, evening time collectively as a camp, and at night with individual youth groups. Evening programs consisted of worship music and testimonials called "God Sightings" in which people from the camp shared how they had seen God working amongst them during the day.

~Soccer Camp and lunch assistance at at local church.
~Extensive yard work in a "rectory", where the spouse was terminally ill

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the opportunity to take this Mission Trip to Austin. These trips have proven to be life changing events for the youth as well as the adult sponsors and we’re blessed all the more by the overwhelming support of our Parish family.
